Experienced psychologist and psychotherapist in central Copenhagen
I am a chartered psychologist and psychotherapist offering:
Experience
I have worked therapeutically with clients for over two decades, with diverse experience from statutory mental health services such as the NHS in the UK and specialist trauma rehabilitation centres in the UK, Australia and Denmark.
Global Perspective
I started working in private practice in the UK in 2011, seeing clients from many different walks of life. I adopt a non-discriminatory and inclusive approach in my practice, recognising the unique needs of each individual.
Change
In my experience, therapy can lead to deep and lasting change. Working through difficult experiences or becoming more aware of patterns that shape your life can lead to new ways of relating to yourself and others.
You’re feeling stuck
Many people seek out therapy when they experience feelings of being stuck or find themselves in a personal crisis. You might also be searching for a safe and supportive space to discuss difficult experiences that are holding you back.
I offer a safe space
Searching for the right therapist can sometimes feel daunting. As can starting the process of therapy. I offer a safe, confidential, and honest space to speak about your difficulties.
Individual needs
I adopt a collaborative approach based on being emotionally present, facilitative and direct. Together we figure out an approach and plan for how to address your particular challenges.
Kind words from former clients and colleagues:
“I reached out to Mirjam when I was living in London as I had begun to have flashbacks from early childhood and had begun to experience severe anxiety and trauma responses during my work as a special needs teacher. I was not sleeping, was drinking heavily and generally not taking care of myself. When I first met Mirjam she provided a safe and compassionate space for me to begin to explore some scary and challenging memories from my earlier years.
Mirjam provided me with a place to feel safe in a time of life when I felt almost constantly in fear and fight/flight mode. Her work taught me about where my feelings were being felt in my body and helped me to find the words to describe them. I was supported to learn how to advocate for myself in a challenging family set up, within my relationship and also in challenging work environments.”
